Safety-relevant research in relation to the acquisition of third-party funding

This workshop is all about the various safety-relevant aspects in virological research that must be taken into account by applicants when applying for research funding (DFG, BMBF, etc.). This involves the safety classification and the assessment of the potential risk of misuse (dual reseach of concern, DURC) of planned experiments with viruses by the applicants. In addition, the questions of when and why a Commission for Ethics in Research (KEF) should be involved and what new requirements there are for the transfer of safety-relevant materials to international cooperation partners and the use of human materials are addressed

To answer these questions, we look forward to the presentation by Dr. Ingrid Ohlert (DFG) on the DFG's current requirements for the assessment of safety-relevant research and to the field reports by Dr. Thomas Hoenen (FLI) on risk assessment from the perspective of a scientist and by Dr. Marcus Conlé (DKFZ) on the coordination of research security at the DKFZ

This workshop is organized by the Commission for Safety-Related Virological Research of the GfV and is aimed at all interested young scientists as well as established researchers. Registration is not necessary, we look forward to welcoming you to our lunch workshop at the GfV Annual Meeting. Please note that the workshop will be conducted in German.
