Abstract

Case History

Post-operative intussusception is an unusual clinical entity and its occurrence after gastric surgery is less than 0.1%, with intussusception jejunogastrics anastomosis being the most prevalent form of presentation1. Cases of intussusception of jejunojejunal anastomosis are less frequent 2.

Cliniccal findings

We present a 52-year-old male with a recurrent intussusception of jejunojejunal anastomosis after gastric surgery.

Diagnosis

The diagnosis of post-surgical intussusception is difficult if not suspected. Only a high degree of suspicion and knowledge of the picture would help the diagnosis, which must be confirmed by CT scan.

Therapy

The truncal vagotomy performed during the first procedure may have influenced the development of recurrence of intussusception of the intestinal loop3.

Comments:

To our knowledge, this is the first case of recurrent intussusception of jejunojejunal anastomosis after gastric surgery.
