23rd European Congress of Trauma & Emergency Surgery

Mentors in the lunchtime session:

The 1-hour meet the mentors session has been introduced to allow a limited number of young surgeons and trainees to meet and have an informal chat with mentors with renowned experience in the field of Trauma and Emergency Surgery in Europe. The aim is to allow young members of the society to create a personal link with senior members and experts in the field, talking about disparate topics, (i.e. work-life balance, gender equity, career development, how to be a good mentor, research career) that will be selected among those provided by the mentors during the pre-congress recruiting phase. Each mentee will be asked to report a list of preferred topics looking for common interests with the mentors. 

The session will follow a speed-dating approach, following the successful experience of the American College of Surgeons Speed Mentoring introduced in 2015. 
Mentees will be grouped and have the chance to spend 10 minutes with each mentor to discuss and create a link. 

The session has been planned at the beginning of the ECTES congress also to allow mentees and mentors to take advantage of the link created during the lunch time session during the second and third day. This session is only open for the mentors and the mentees.
