Description

New materials and technologies with magnetic nanoparticles are revolutionizing therapeutic and diagnostic applications. Due to their high responsiveness to magnetic fields, magnetic nanoparticles can serve e. g. as sensors, as drug carriers, as hyperthermia agents, contrast agents and as actuators for a variety of medical applications. This session will focus on recent developments in the design of novel materials with magnetic nanoparticles answering important challenges in medicine. The objective is to discuss innovative research in the fields of design of the new nanomaterials for diagnosis and therapy as well as of state-of-the-art and new methods to assess their biological and physical properties. The focus session gives the opportunity to bring together researchers from different disciplines, such as chemists, physicists, biologists and physicians, and learn the latest developments in synthesis, physico-chemical characterization, imaging techniques and clinical validations of magnetic nanoparticles as well as hybrid materials.
