Introduction: Crashes involving motorcyclists have become an important issue, especially fatal ones. In July 22, there was a motorcycle event called the "Rolezinho noturno," which involved approximately 200 motorcyclists and resulted in motorcycle, car, and pedestrian collisions, leading to an accident with multiple casualties, critical injuries, and deaths, causing the enormous impact in public health.
Method: retrospective study of 31 medical recordsResults: 03 (9%) deaths at scene and 31 victims were treated in four public hospitals. 66% were male, with an average age of 21y. Only seven patients were taken to the hospital under EMS trauma protocol. Majority arrived with a Revised Trauma Score of 8, predicting a better prognosis. 29 patients were ISS <15 and two >25. Eight had orthopedic injuries, 04 of whom required emergency surgery, while the others were referred to the non-operative management. 12 patients had traumatic brain injuries, 10 of whom had mild, and two severe TBI. One had spinal cord injury underwent surgery. One patient had a mild testicular injury. Two patients had lung contusions and ribs fractures associated with abdominal trauma, one with a perirenal hematoma and the other with Grade 1 splenic laceration, both of whom were hospitalized for observation and non-operative management of the injuries. Most patients involved in this mass casualty accident do not have severe or fatal injuries, with 16% requiring hospitalization for treatment and 9% surgical procedure.
Conclusion: Despite laws, traffic injury problem needs urgent awareness. Safety, laws enforcement, prevention, and education programs for youngers motorcicles and medical assistance should be implemented to save future lives.
