Abstract

Introduction
Founded in 1963, the Wuerrzburg Head Clinic was the world"s first interdisciplinary center for head-related medical disciplines, integrating research, teaching, and patient care. In response to the challenges of digitalization and the pandemic-driven transformation of teaching, the clinic undertook the task of modernizing its proven model with state-of-the-art, globally connected technologies.

Material and Methods
An IP-based, latency-free media network was developed to interconnect all operating rooms, course rooms, the video studio, and the lecture hall of the ENT clinic. Cutting-edge technologies, such as Zeiss Kinevo and Arriscope microscopes, DANTE-based audio platforms, and NDI-based video systems, were utilized. A Q-SYS processor and NewTek Tricaster 2 Elite were implemented for centralized control and seamless integration into global streaming platforms. 3D projection was achieved using Infitec-based interference technology.

Results
The system provides latency-free transmission in 4K and stereoscopic 3D formats, enabling interactive teaching sessions and conferences with image and sound quality equivalent to an on-site surgical experience. Over the past year, this innovation has significantly enhanced surgical training and international networking within the ENT clinic.

Discussion
The digitalization of teaching at the Würzburg Head Clinic demonstrates how modern technologies can elevate a long-standing and successful structure, making it accessible on a global scale. This model represents a milestone in surgical education and international knowledge exchange.
